50 Cent: Helping Somalia

Rap star Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson visited Kenya and famine-hit Somalia this week to raise awareness on hunger and poverty issues.
Jackson flew to the southern Somali border town of Dolo, who has provided refuge to the thousands of women and children fleeing drought and conflict in the nation.
“What I am seeing is devastating — these women and children have risked everything to come to this Somalia camp, just to get food,” Jackson said. “They need our help.”

Somalia has battled famine conditions in some regions and an Islamist insurgency that has disrupted aid to people in danger of starvation.
The United Nations declared an end to Somalia’s six-month famine recently, but said the situation is still fragile.

The singer teamed up with the World Food Programme for the Wednesday and Thursday visits that included a stop in a slum in neighboring Kenya.
In Nairobi, he visited with children at the sprawling Kibera slum, most of whom are orphans.
“To meet those kids was so inspiring, they have nothing, yet they are so positive and optimistic,” he said in a statement posted on the U.N. agency’s website. “I want to do my part so they get food and an education. I hope more people will join me to help end this devastating situation.”

Jackson has pledged to provide one billion meals for the hungry, and is donating a meal from every sale of a new energy drink, Street King, according to the World Food Programme.
The rap star has sold millions of albums and produced major hits including “Candy Shop” and “In Da Club.”

$100 Million for a Second Home in California

Here are the names of the real power behind the Legal Mafia. People in power are afraid to speak out against them, because if they do, all the dirty laundry about them will com out. The elitist only choose leaders that have a shady background, who are evil like them.

The are satanic in nature, behind this brotherhood they bow-down to Satan himself. The Elitist Illuminati occultists are into black magic, child abductions and ritual killings etc. They are above the law, because they are the law. With the help of the CIA who abduct children for the elitist pleasure and to make more money by selling them into prostitution and the drug trade. Diana Ross: 30th Anniversary!

On July 21, 1983, Ross performed a concert in Central Park for a taped Showtime special. Proceeds of the concert would be donated to build a playground in the singer’s name. Midway through… the beginning of the show, a torrential downpour occurred. Ross tried to keep on performing, but the severe weather required that the show be stopped. Ross urged the large crowd to exit the venue safely, promising to perform the next day.

The second concert held the very next day was without rain. The funds for the playground were to be derived from sales of different items at the concert; however, all profits earned from the first concert were spent on the second. When the mainstream media discovered the exorbitant costs of the two concerts, Ross faced criticism and poor publicity.

Although her representatives originally refused to pay anything for the proposed playground, Ross herself later paid, out of pocket, the $250,000 required to build the park. The Diana Ross Playground was finally built three years later. The Diana Ross Playground at 83rd and Central Park West is a beautiful assortment of wood structures and classic outdoor children’s gym obstacles making it a lovely addition to the park

Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine: Biggest Charity Givers!

The academic world will not forget about Dre.

Music industry icons Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre are giving $70 million to  create an undergraduate academy at the University of Southern California,  announced the university.

The USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the  Business of Innovation will focus on four core curriculum areas: Arts and  Entrepreneurship; Technology, Design and Marketability; Concept and Business  Platforms; and Creating a Prototype.

The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly  influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media,” said USC  President C. L. Max Nikias. “USC provides an extraordinarily rich academic,  research and artistic environment. We are committed to encouraging our students  to use their intellectual and creative resources to effect change in all  segments of society. Our goal is to ensure that the academy is the most  collaborative educational program in the world.”

The four-year academic program, which will enroll its first class of 25  students in fall 2014, will include one-on-one faculty mentoring, opportunities  to interact with luminaries from the arts and entertainment industry serving as  guest speakers and lecturers, and a broad array of internship opportunities for  students.

During their fourth and final year, students will take up residence in a  uniquely designed experiential setting, the “Garage.” Grouped into self-directed  teams, which may include non-academy students from across the university, these  students will determine a project that can be developed into a prototype over  the course of the year.

“Flexibility is a hallmark of USC, and the academy’s curriculum is incredibly  adaptive,” said Erica Muhl, dean of the USC Roski School of Fine Arts, who will  serve as inaugural director of the USC Iovine & Young Academy. “The  curriculum was created to take full advantage of a newly designed, revolutionary  educational space that will offer students very powerful tools.  Academy  students will have the freedom to move easily from classroom to lab, from studio  to workshop individually or in groups, and blow past any academic or structural  barriers to spontaneous creativity.

No word yet if the tuition includes free Beats by Dre headphones.

Jackie & Rachel Robinson: National Jackie Robinson Day!

rachel robinson

Described in The New York Times in 2008 as what “might be the best educational effort in the country,” the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) is a national, not–for–profit, organization founded in 1973 as a vehicle to perpetuate the memory of Jackie Robinson through the advancement of higher education among underserved populations.

Uniquely, JRF provides generous four–year college scholarships in conjunction with a comprehensive set of skills and opportunities to disadvantaged students of color to ensure their success in college and to develop their leadership potential.  JRF’s hands–on, four–year program includes peer and professional mentoring, internship placement, extensive leadership training, international travel and community service options, the conveyance of practical life skills, and a myriad of networking opportunities. JRF’s strategic combination of financial assistance and support services results consistently in a nearly 100% college graduation rate.

Staffed by 20 full–time employees and 90 volunteer professionals across 8 geographic regions, JRF not only boasts a high graduation rate but develops leaders who are prepared to compete effectively in the workforce of a global economy. With an average of 250 students enrolled in the program annually, JRF has had many years of success and experience with a diverse minority student population matriculating at between 90 and 100 colleges and universities across the country, varying slightly from year to year.

1400 professionals proudly call themselves JRF alumni, having been molded into dynamic leaders with a commitment to community service and the humanitarian ideals of Jackie Robinson. Since its inception, the program has attracted the broad support of hundreds of companies, philanthropic institutions and individuals.
